My Top Ten favorite Dreamcast games.

It is no secret I love the Dreamcast and this will probably be the last article for that I write about it for a while so I’ll just talk about my top ten favorite Dreamcast games of all time.

10.Sonic Adventure 2

This was the last Sonic game on the Dreamcast and I have to say “what a send off!” This was also the last good Sonic before they ruined everything and tried to do something different. Just look at Mario, he uses the same 3-D formula every game and we eat that shit up.Sonic, on the other hand tried to be original and we hated it every game since. On a side note this game has the first appearance of Shadow, who had a spin-off called “Shadow the Hedgehog”.

When I first played this game I too young and stupid to understand anything and now that I’m older and wiser I sought the game out finding at Game Haven for 10 bucks and it had everything included. The story of this game involves a young man named Ryo Hazuki and his quest to avenge his fathers death.Along the way he searches for any clues or leads (most notably asking about where he may find some sailors *wink*).Any way it wasn’t until I picked up another that I was really itching to play this game. What seemed to be 7 years since I had play it with my first Dreamcast, I popped it when and for some unknown reason I really got in to the game! It seems that when I played it originally I was just some punk who wanted to beat up old people and got pissed when I found out you had to be a good guy however, I’m a different person now.

8.NFL 2K2

I don’t ever play sports games but, for some reason I rented this because I heard good reviews and shit before I knew I was playing sports games.I can say without a doubt that the 2K series beats the shit of Madden when it comes to football games and 2K2 is a testament to that.

7.Zombie Revenge

This game is just awesome you run around, punch things, shoot things and listen to great death moans(damniiiiiiiiiiiiiitt). However, this is fucking hard thanks to its arcade perfect port and only 15 lives max (which is lame). make sure to play this game with a friend( and hopefully one that doesn’t suck ass and is named Miles). One cool thing about this game is that it takes place in the same universe as House of the Dead (“were meeting G, over there.”)

6.House of the Dead 2.

One of my favorite arcade games House of the Dead features awesome bosses, cool levels and an incredible Shakespearean level of acting. When I got my Dreamcast cast this was the game that had me glued to my T.V. giving me constant eyesores but, it was well worth it and beating the last boss is too epic for a light gun game.

5.Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike

This is the perfect iteration of SF3 and has all the Street Fighter gimmicks we love and hate, (mostly Gil). Its parry made fireball spammers a thing of the past and got down to the nitty gritty. My only gripe in this game is that the characters (excluding a few) are pretty lame and just aren’t as cool or as memorable as the Street Fighter II cast.

4.Sonic Adventure

Two things this game has over SA2: 1. better camera, mostly due to bigger stages and 2. umm…………bigger stages really, like the one where you had to use the wind stone to access it, that stage was fun and the casino stage, you know what, SA has better stages than SA2 period! also the last boss was cooler.(not DBZ)

3.Crazy Taxi

Forget 2 and 3, Crazy Taxi 1 was where it was at. With an awesome soundtrack that includes Bad Religion and Offspring while you drive like you’ve always wanted to, Crazy Taxi is just a good game with awesome  product placement that was cool back then,(and not totally overdone like it is now). Also challenges in this game  were almost impossible. What else is there to say about game that involves driving people to their destination in a very crazy manner.

2.Marvel vs Capcom 2

This game is fucking crazy!!! 56 (28 characters for each side 19 of them from Fucking X-men and two of  x-men being bone claw Wolverine and adamantium claw Wolverine).Thats right two fucking Wolverines!!! That aside this game is still loved by many and fans still want that sequel, too bad Marvel is such a bastard it will probably never happen. My friends and I play this game like crazy wild animals thanks to its countless match ups and near infinite Hyper combo links(I can always count on Hojo to work time flip into anything no matter how useless it is. On top of that this game is still played in tournaments everywhere.

1. Soul Calibur

“The soul still burns with…….Lizard Man!!!!!”

If you bought a Dreamcast, chances are you bought this game. Not only is this the best Dreamcast game it is also one of the best fighting games ever with a great cast of characters with unique weapon styles and fun make-your-own-combo kinda of fighting system, this was also a great example of a game that is easy to learn and hard to master with some characters that were easy to play with and some characters that require a bit more of attention but, in the end paid off because, you would be able to stomp button mashers that just flail wildly on a controller thinking their all that and a big of ruffles. In short, this game was just a fun time to be had by all with cool stages and characters that suit anyones tastes even people that don’t care to much for fighting games love this game and says a lot.

Well there it is and I hope you enjoyed reading this.
